Fundraising Goal: $8,000
A fundraiser for: Urban Bike Project of Wilmington
Organization Mission:
Urban Bike Project supports Wilmington communities by providing access to bicycling as a healthy, affordable and practical means of transportation and recreation.
Join Urban Bike Project for the 5th Annual Commuter Challenge, a fundraiser and special division of the renowned Monkey Hill Time Trial! At Urban Bike Project, we believe the true test of a cyclist's mettle is how many groceries they can manage to pile onto their bicycle at one time without losing their balance. Competitors will demonstrate the true commuting potential of the bicycle while raising money for Urban Bike Project by completing the time trial course with fully loaded bicycles, culminating in the legendary climb up Monkey Hill to the finish line. Prizes will be awarded for fastest, most weight carried across the finish line, and most money raised for Urban Bike Project.
"Can I spectate and cheer for the competitors?" Yes! You can watch from anywhere along the course, but the party is at the finish line. Spectators shout encouragement to competitors as they climb Monkey Hill to the finish line - a lot of folks even bring cowbells or dress up in costumes. This event is free for all spectators and features live music, food trucks, and a beer garden at the finish area. After the Commuter Challenge, you can stick around to watch the pros.
