Quality, child-centered education, such as authentic Montessori programs, can be transformative for a student's academic achievement and for both childhood and adult well-being. Montessori's emphasis on the whole child--academic, physical, and socio-emotional development-- results in students who excel academically and are also lifelong learners, creative thinkers, and community-minded citizens.

We are a network of Montessori experts, educators, parents, and others working to make high-quality, authentic Montessori programs a more broadly available option in the public arena.

Funds will be used to support our communications and awareness-generating initiatives in support of our work bringing accessible Montessori education to students in Delaware.

Our work focuses in four areas:

- Providing comprehensive school start-up support to districts and charters to support the expansion of Montessori education options in the public sector;

- Strengthening the Montessori teacher pipeline in Delaware through creating a Montessori training program focused on dual-certification requirements for Montessori teachers and administrators in public schools;

- Increasing Montessori awarenesses by sponsoring seminars and other opportunities for communities to explore how children learn through Montessori;

- Working with legislators, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community members to advocate for pro-Montessori public policies.

Accomplishments:

- Opened Sussex Montessori School, which provides accessible, public Montessori education in western Sussex County.

- Partnered with the University of Delaware's Division of Professional and Continuing Studies to launch the University of Delaware Montessori Teacher Residency.

- Created policy pathways for the expansion of Montessori early childhood education in Delaware.
