Our Heritage Breed Livestock Program provides not only a direct connection to the history of both the site and country, but also emphasizes the importance of genetic preservation, particularly as it relates to sheep. We believe that historic preservation has many faces, and that the direct connection that our flocks of historic sheep provide serve to educate not only to our past, but to the importance of preservation, and to better help raise awareness thereof. Through further cultivation of this program, we seek to provide increased educational opportunities through onsite educational visits with local schools and programs open to the general public.  It is our firm belief that as a country and a community, we must know where we come from before we can know where we are going, and through that feel that historic preservation is vital to the future of not only our community but our country as well.

Greenbank Mills & Philips Farm, through partnership with the Winterthur Museum and Colonial Williamsburg, is one of the only historic sites in the area seeking to preserve a vital part of our nations’ past. The direct connection that the heritage breed flocks allow helps generate a tangible interest in historic programming and preservation.

The total annual cost of base supplies - including the feed, bedding, and basic medical supplies for the flock - is approximately $5,000.

We are asking you to please help us raise $5,000 in support of these living connections to our past.

Thank you so very much for your support.
