About Meals on Wheels Delaware

Mission: Our mission is to raise private funds for allocation to member agencies with meal-delivery programs. By providing both financial and human resources, we ensure uninterrupted delivery of meals to senior Delawareans in the comfort of their home.

“Do you know that meals delivered in 2023 increased by 3% to 850,000?”

We are a nonprofit organization focused on ensuring that every senior in Delaware who requests a home delivered meal can receive the support they need.

Recipients of the Meals on Wheels program are women and men, aged 60 and over, who often live alone.  Many are struggling to balance their needs on a fixed income, and are unable to shop or safely prepare a hot meal for themselves.

Overwhelmingly, seniors who receive meals at home say a daily meal makes them eat healthier, feel more safe and secure and able to remain comfortable to live at home.  The friendly volunteer visits, and the safety check that the volunteers do every day, works hand in hand with the meals that they deliver to the senior’s door.

The biggest threats of aging are hunger, isolation and loss of independence.
Meals on Wheels programs help with all three!
