Help CEB Prevent Child Homelessness

Organization Mission:

To build the best educational support system possible that allows every student who walks through our doors an equitable opportunity to be successful.

Child homelessness is on the rise, particularly in the City of Wilmington.  When children do not have safe, stable housing they are unable to learn and focus in the classroom.

CEB’s mission of quality, equitable education includes providing children with the tools and resources that they need for academic success.  Children who experience homelessness are more likely to score poorly on math, reading, spelling, and vocabulary tests. Episodic homelessness in childhood results in frequent school moves, which can impact opportunities to learn; disrupt key relationships with teachers, peers, and the community; and require changes in schedules and transportation, leading to absenteeism and loss of learning time.

Since 2020, rates of child homelessness of CEB students have increased every year. Please consider an investment in our children today.  Securing a donation of $15,000 will prevent 20 children from becoming unhoused and will provide these children and their families with intensive, personalized case management services.

Every donation provides CEB students and their families with a full continuum of wraparound services including:
  • Emergency Financial Assistance – Rental and utility aid to prevent eviction.
  • Parent Education & Job Support – Financial literacy, budgeting, career planning, and certification programs.
  • Basic Needs Assistance – Backpack food program, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
  • Counseling & Mental Health Services – Trauma-informed counseling, case management, and crisis intervention.
  • School & Community Support – Attendance monitoring, transportation assistance, and after-school programs.
  • Housing Stability & Eviction Prevention – Landlord mediation, legal aid referrals, and long-term housing connections.

Help CEB prevent child homelessness! Let's come together to ensure that our children and families remain in stable, safe housing, and that they are supported on their journey to self-sufficiency.
