About Thresholds of the State of DE Inc.
Thresholds volunteer facilitators provide training in decision-making for incarcerated people in correctional institutions throughout Delaware. Thresholds is a 100% volunteer organization and relies solely on donations.
Testimonials from incarcerated people who have completed our program:
I am a firm believer that you cannot change self-defeating behaviors until you first change self-defeating thoughts. Thresholds is an avenue in which to achieve that change. Its step-by-step analysis of the “Decisional Model” is beneficial to understanding oneself mentally, emotionally, and behaviorally.
I didn’t know people cared enough to volunteer to come to a prison and teach decision-making skills to incarcerated people and to look for the good in them. Being a part of Thresholds has made me realize that failure to recognize possibilities is a common mistake and it can be detrimental to our future. We shouldn’t limit our own or others’ imagination. As a deciding person I know first-hand the importance of freedom and responsibility.
Testimonials from our volunteer facilitators:
I am deeply concerned about crime rates, the drug culture, and high rates of recidivism among those who have been incarcerated. Participation as a volunteer in the Thresholds Program allows me to devote my time, personal attention, and care in offering incarcerated people the chance to acquire decision-making tools and reflect on what they can do to turn their lives to a more constructive path.
I support the Thresholds motto, ‘I am unique, I am important, I am irreplaceable.” My job as a volunteer is to help someone see this in themselves and in every other person.
This program not only supports incarcerated people in their daily lives, but furthermore, prepares them to be successful when they are released into their communities. I have personally benefited from their diversity, which has allowed me to further understand their challenges and has enabled me to contribute to their future successes.
