About Hank's Hope

Mission: Our mission is to provide support and resources to women and families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss.

Hank's Hope was founded in 2015 by Anne Mathay in memory of her son, Henry "Hank" Shaffer Mathay. Hank was stillborn in 2012 at 33 weeks gestation.

Currently, Hank's Hope serves families in all three counties of Delaware. Hank's Hope holds an annual Wave of Light Remembrance and Celebration on October 15th (Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day). Care bags, education, literature, and grants are provided to hospitals throughout the state. Monthly peer-to-peer support groups are also held. Hank's Hope received the Lt. Governor's Health and Wellness Challenge award in 2019 for it's contributions to the community.
