About Greater Harrington Historical Society

Mission: The mission of the Greater Harrington Historical Society is to keep the Greater Harrington area’s history alive for the education and enjoyment of the public.

The Greater Harrington Historical Society was founded in 1977 by a group of citizens looking to preserve the areas colorful and rich history. Growing from a shared office space to 3 museums today, our collections of artifacts has grown to over 70,000 items, each telling a story of the areas past. Artifacts range from restaurant matches books to a forty foot neon car dealership sign, property and indentured servant ephemera from the late 1600’s to documents highlighting the City of Harrington’s just completed 150th sesquicentennial celebration.
