The Friends of Prime Hook supports educational, environmental, and recreational activities at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. We work to increase public awareness of the role the Prime Hook NWR and US Fish & Wildlife Service play in preserving habitat for native plants and animals.

About Friends of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge

Mission: The Friends of Prime Hook supports educational, environmental, and recreational activities at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. We work to increase public awareness of the role the Prime Hook NWR and US Fish & Wildlife Service play in preserving habitat for native plants and animals.

The Friends are active year round. We:

- Operate the Hooked on Nature Store in the refuge headquarters
- Staff the Visitor Contact Center in the refuge headquarters
- Organize free monthly birdwatching walks on the refuge's accessible trails
- Lead free monthly walks on the more challenging refuge trails
- Guide free monthly sunset/moonrise nature walks
- Perform maintenance on trails, bird houses, and bird feeders
- Engage in public outreach at community events
- Sponsor the Annual Nature Photography Contest
- Care for the native gardens around the refuge
