About EDGE for Tomorrow

Mission: EDGE for Tomorrow Mission and Vision Statements "Our mission is to improve the lives in Edgemoor and surrounding communities in one generation through caring and trusting relationships." "We envision a vital community of families who help each other as they have been helped."

EDGE for Tomorrow, LLC has been a 501 c3 public charity since 2019. Founded in 2011 as an outreach ministry of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, our primary funding comes from private foundations and government grants, along with individual donations and fund-raising events. We serve low-income families in the neighborhoods of Edgemoor Gardens, Bellevue and Bellefonte by providing after-school care, addressing food insecurity, and advocating and supporting the marginalized in our community. Located in the church building at 503 Duncan Rd, Wilmington, 19809, EDGE After-School opened in February 2012 with initial focus on free after-school care for grades K through 5 who attend Mount Pleasant Elementary School, offering:

  • Impact-based programming and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) that teaches citizenship, social skills, empathy, and kindness,
  •  Tutoring and enrichment activities with specialized reading and math support,
  • Homework help, healthy snacks and physical activities, and
  •  STEM learning to enrich skills needed for reading, math, geography, science and the arts.

The Music School of Delaware’s MELODY program provides an outlet for kindergarten through grade 2 students to experience the art of music through Rhythm, a Bucket Band percussion group, and the violin. Grades 3 through 5 participate in Bucket Band and gain enrichment through art, creative writing, yoga, storytelling, and STEM using learning tools that build self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and coping mechanisms that are so necessary in addressing the effects of childhood trauma and stress. Once each week, all students participate in the Lion’s Quest free one-hour program sponsored by Bellevue Lions Club, providing a series of school-based education activities that provide children with essential skills to help them lead healthier life-styles, resist drug use, and develop a positive self-image. Academic support is provided for our students in reading and math with one-on-one specialized tutoring two afternoons each week.

The happy sounds of children making music and having fun is joyful to hear. Donations raised through the DoMore24 Delaware 2023 campaign will help us to continue activities that support a screen-free after-school environment centered on building social skills and coping mechanisms while engaging in active play in a supportive, caring environment.
