About Delaware CarePlan, Inc.

Mission: Delaware CarePlan's mission is to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing life-long planning services, financial security, and support services beyond their basic care – during and beyond the life of the parents – while helping them retain eligibility for crucial government benefits.

Due to increased diagnosis, there is an increased number of individuals living with disabilities. Many of these individuals are currently being cared for by their parents but, due to advancements in modern medicine, they have a longer life expectancy than in the past. It is expected that a majority may outlive their parents. As their parents grow older and it becomes harder for them to provide the same level of care, many of these individuals will fall through the cracks and be left vulnerable as access to community support grows limited without the pressure for consistency and enhancements. This leaves parents and families with the worry of who will take care of their children after their passing.

DCP fills in a gap of social services and assures the families of loved ones with disabilities that their loved ones will continue to have safe and meaningful lives after the passing of their parents and/or caretakers. We make sure that all of the mechanisms are in place to monitor, support, and advocate for their care.

With the creation of DCP and the adoption of The Delaware CarePlan Trust Act, we are able to assist families in creating comprehensive care plans and establishing trust funds as a means to provide for disabled individuals without jeopardizing governmental benefits. This also provides a support system previously provided by the parents. In creating personalized care plans for individuals, we can ensure that their care and support is not interrupted if anything should happen to parents or family members.

DCP partners with agencies, estate planning attorneys, financial managers, and parental mentors to provide information that highlights the importance of planning now for the special needs individual's future.

DCP is the only agency of its kind in Delaware.  Help us help those in our community who need our support!
