Organization Mission:

Jefferson Street Center’s mission is to promote social justice for all, with a special emphasis on improving the quality of life for individuals and families living in the surrounding community. The organization seeks to foster cooperation among community groups and residents to solve problems of mutual concern through a variety of service and support programs.

Your donation will allow JSC to continue offering free Zumba classes twice a week, both in-person at Hanover Presbyterian Church, and virtually. By keeping the class free, we are able to provide a safe and welcome space for all participants to connect and stay healthy.

Some testimonials of participants:

The exercise I get is of course good for my health but the uplifting feeling of being in the room with so many others of all ages, sizes and background is what really inspires me. About Jefferson Street Center

Jefferson Street Center has been working to grow neighborhood stewardship and support community development and revitalization projects since the inception of the Washington Heights Blueprint Revitalization Plan in 2017. Since then, JSC has supported and partnered in community-driven efforts, including the development of an incubator community hub in partnership with Hanover Presbyterian Church. The goal of opening this space to grassroots organizations, microbusinesses and local engagement projects is to provide an accessible and safe place for all community members to grow,  connect and become successful. Most importantly, our goal is to share this space with our neighbors, collaborators and local community leaders who want to make our city a better, safer and thriving place to live.
