ACLU Delaware does a lot of work to protect the civil rights and freedom of everyone in Delaware. I really love to support their work because they do a lot of work to support and protect all of us.
 
While I feel strongly that every single person deserves liberty and justice, I am especially passionate about reproductive healthcare.
I was raised in a conservative Christian community, where women especially were shamed for.. just about everything. I was told more than once that any form of contraception was simply not allowed, ever. If you were pregnant, the life of the fetus was more important than your own, no matter the circumstances. I was given a lot of messaging that felt unfair and unsafe, and ultimately caused a lot of emotional and psychological damage.

When I was over 18 and able to make choices about my reproductive health, I finally felt free. With the help of my doctor, I was able to choose a form of contraception that worked for me and it was honestly one of the best moments of my life. I felt safe knowing that I could make decisions about my own body. At the time, Roe was in effect and reproductive healthcare was seemingly not in danger.

Unfortunately, our rights are currently at risk. Reproductive healthcare is in danger. People have a right to reproductive healthcare, from contraception to abortion. Our lives are worth protecting. It saddens and scares me to think about young girls growing up in an environment where they are shamed for being women and are blocked from receiving necessary reproductive healthcare.
