🌱 Let’s Get Healthy SussexSupporting families through:• Free weekly meals• Healthy cooking demos• Chronic disease prevention• Nutrition education in English, Spanish & Haitian Creole• Grocery access resourcesReaching 5,000+ families each year.Â
🩺 Community Health Workers (CHWs)Our CHWs meet people where they are: homes, farms, faith centers, shelters, and neighborhoods. They provide: • Healthcare navigation• Housing, food & insurance assistance• Behavioral health & SUD referrals• Culturally informed, multilingual support Assisting over 2,000 residents annually.
💜 Delaware Goes Purple – Prevention & Stigma Reduction SCHC proudly leads the county’s largest anti-stigma and prevention movement. Through Delaware Goes Purple, we:
• Educate youth & families• Host community events• Provide Narcan training• Promote recovery resources• Share prevention messaging county-wide Reaching 20,000+ people each year with lifesaving information.
🏥 Rural Innovation Hub – Expanding Access & OpportunityOpening in December 2025, the Rural Innovation Hub will serve as:• A training center for community health workers• A shared workspace for nonprofits• A resource hub for families• A central location for prevention, wellness & workforce development• A collaborative site for over 200 partnersThe Hub strengthens our ability to serve rural Sussex County through innovation, collaboration, and culturally responsive support.
🛑 Free Prevention Programs We remain committed to reducing substance use and saving lives through:• Narcan distribution & opioid education• Youth prevention ambassadors• Wellness workshops and CHW-led outreach• Programming for seniors, families & high-risk communities

Mission: The Sussex County Health Coalition exists to engage the entire community in collaborative family-focused effort to improve the health of children, youth and families in Sussex County, Delaware.
We envision a community in which our citizens and institutions (public, private, and not-for-profit) are actively engaged in community health promotion as a shared community good, and working together to create a cultural and physical environment which supports healthy lifestyles for our children and their families.
