The Parkinson’s Education and Support Group of Sussex County (PESGSC) is a volunteer managed and led 501c(3) non-profit organization actively operating since 2009, with a growing roster of approximately 250 members. This constitutes the largest Parkinson’s related organization of its kind in Delaware. PESGSC provides comprehensive, innovative, and best-in-class programming for those on the Parkinson’s Disease journey, their care partners, and their loved ones– including exercise classes, speech therapy, education, a chorus, access to area resources, caregiver support, and informal socialization. Every day, our members find purpose, a higher quality of life, and a caring, compassionate community around them as they continuously strive to make every moment count.
Parkinson’s Disease is the world’s fastest-growing neuro-degenerative disease, impacting an estimated one (1) million Americans, and with approximately 90,000 new diagnoses each year. Right here in Sussex County, the significant growth in our population includes a rapidly increasing demand for our services in order to support those impacted by the disease. Major efforts are underway to manage, treat, and perhaps one day cure Parkinson’s. But, in the meantime, the need to support our growing community is more important than ever.
The holidays embody the spirit of generosity– giving of ourselves, our resources, our time, and our love. Giving Tuesday is an annual event that makes it possible for you to further join in our shared cause with your donations to our life-changing work in Sussex County.
This year’s event begins on Tuesday, December 2nd. We will continue this campaign through December. Through your donation, you give a gift of better lives to those in our community who face Parkinson’s Disease with courage, grace, and resiliency. And when you give, you receive back. Even a $25 donation from you will help to maintain the exercise program, speech program, chorus and more. That’s because with your continued help and partnership,, a healthy, vibrant, and sustainable PESGSC organization makes our entire community stronger and a far better place to live. Thank You and Happy Holidays!
