Organization Mission:

Fostering Wishes Foundation is a 100% volunteer organization that grants birthday, holiday and special occasion wishes to children and teens in Delaware foster care, improving mental and physical health and preparing them for the future. We create those magical childhood moments that youth in foster care often miss - selecting new clothes, playing school sports or an instrument, attending prom, graduation or school field trips, choosing back to school backpacks and supplies, hygiene essentials, or a new favorite toy. All products are brand new and top name, setting us apart from other organizations. Foster youth can "shop" at our free store for their birthday, holidays, when first entering foster care with nothing but the clothes on their backs or for any milestone important to them. In 2025 we granted 1,111 Wishes to over 400 foster youth and the need keeps growing! Our 2200sqft "Little Free Store" stocks clothing and accessories sized from newborn to adult 4XL and include school, casual, work and evening wear. In October 2024, we opened our Little Free Store of Wishes where foster kids, or their case workers, can choose brand-new, top-name clothing, footwear, toys, sports gear, instruments and lessons, art supplies, hygiene, bedding and towels, suitcase or duffle, bikes, household goods, books, gift cards and more - whatever matters to them, matters to us! When aging out of care at 18 or starting college, teens rarely have the means to get essentials, so we provide bedding, housewares, towels and even décor, so their space is personal and welcoming for their transition from foster care to independent living. Fostering Wishes Foundation is available to every youth in Delaware foster care We're determined to ensure the foster population of Delaware has dignity, joy and a sense of childhood normalcy during a time of turmoil. These kids have experienced enough trauma, they deserve some typical childhood experiences and all the joy we can provide!
