Organization Mission:

The mission of The Charter School of Wilmington is to inspire and prepare highly motivated students to thrive both individually and as responsible global citizens through world-class science, mathematics, and technology education.

In 1996, The Charter School of Wilmington opened its doors as one of the first independent public charter schools in the United States, focusing on the study of mathematics and science, serving students in grades 9-12. Since then, it has served over 5,500 students, equipping them with the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills that will serve them in a 21st-century economy.

Over the years, CSW has successfully sought private support for one-off projects. Labs that were state of the art five years ago must be updated regularly. 3-D printers and robotics were cutting-edge just a few years ago but have been supplanted by Artificial Intelligence and the meta-verse. Coding has become Cloud Computing. To keep up with the skills that are needed in today’s world, CSW needs additional annual support to best serve and prepare its students.

Since we only receive about 80% of the funding traditional public schools get and do not qualify for public funding of capital expenses, CSW is in a challenging position.

We need the support of our families, our alumni, our sponsoring companies, other members of the business community, and foundations to ensure our students can comfortably collaborate and accelerate their development in an exceptional learning environment.

What brings you joy?

  • Upgrading all classrooms into more collaborative learning spaces?
  • Purchasing cardio machines and updating the Athletic Trainer's Room?
  • Designing a new science lab to stimulate curiosity?
  • Establishing the CSW Research and Design Institute?
  • Providing high-impact educational experiences for staff and students?
