I am going to be participating in this year's Monkey Hill Time Trial as part of the Commuter Challenge to raise money for Urban Bike Project. Urban Bike Project is a non-profit community bike shop bringing the joys of bicycling to Wilmington residents, both youth and adults. They do a great job helping provide urban youth access to bikes. This year I was able to help with their Holiday Bike Giveaway where they were able to give 100 kids a bike for Christmas. Additionally, they have an amazing NICA team which competes against Salesianum, where I coach.
To help promote donations: the more money we raise, the more bags I will strap on, and try to make it up Monkey Hill.
$100 - Top Tube Bag and Full Bottles
$200 - Frame Bag
$300 - Bar Bag
$400 - Seat Post Bag
$500 – Backpack - I hate commuting with a backpack and will leave my laptop at work to avoid it at all costs.
I am a bit of a fair-weather commuter, mostly use it as an excuse to go ride my bike more. So, let’s make sure I can’t fake it on race day and load on the weight.
