Code Purple Kent County

Code Purple - We Rescue Families Code Purple Kent County is on a mission to help people stay out of the cold during winter months when they are experiencing homelessness. We go beyond this effort with "Code In Need" which helps with providing a weekly open clothing pantry, food pantry and human services needs. We provide the basic or extensive needs so that people who are experiencing a crisis, emergency or other life experience that causes homelessness are able to live a peaceful life without angst. We do this by providing group homes, parsonages, temporary hotel stays, temporary tent supplies and areas as well as human services and food during most of these "helpful stays."

Code Purple - We Rescue Families

Code Purole Kent County was created in 2015 to answer the need of emergency sanctuary from the cold for citizens in Delaware. The mission has spread with Code Purple’s in other states and starting in 2022 in other countiries!

We need your help to keep the momentum growing!

Code Purple offers emergency sanctuary shelter to up to 400 people each winter season. We also are open daily for clothing, hygiene, food and other needs.

We currently provide job training and assistance for resume building and interview success to those who sign up for our job class.

We also provide help with addiction and recovery by assisting with transportation, insurance mediation and help during programs.

Our new Code Purple food truck is used at events and for outreaches to events or tent cities.

We have expanded to provide group homes and rescue homes. One home for families, one for women/children and one for men.

We have found that after the pandemic the need, amount of people helped and outreach needed has dangerously increased.

In 2021 we implemented a hotel voucher program and assisted with helping  693 people find respite in time of covid-19
Quarantining or extreme homelessness.

Daily we feed the community in need at 5:30 pm in downtown Dover at our site #2, 46 a bradford St Dover De. This is for those experiencing food insecurity!

Once a month those affected by drug addiction or are grieving are welcome to visit Face the Facts. This event is like no other that explains the affects of addiction and also recovery in a different way each month. This takes place the first Thursday of the month at 7 pm!

We also host a Vision Board class Tuesdays at 6 pm for the public at our other office 1207 e division st Dover De.

In partnership with Autism Delaware and kaleidoscope we host weekly work opportunities and fun activities for
Youth and adults with special needs.

Our team will help host Night To Shine each year which is a “prom like” event I. February every year.

In 2022, we look to expand our reach and also partner with others. We helped create and launch the Kent County Alliance with 12 other organizations to start to build big ideas and dreams into reality!

Help Code Purple raise funds to manage their food, clothing and hygiene care pantry. This pantry also helps provide food bags for individuals living on the streets, other non profits and group homes, people living in hotels as well as people referred from the Department of Health and Social Services who are in quarantine due to COVID-19 and can not leave their house. Our work never stops as we also help individuals seeking addiction treatment find a plan and facility that meets their needs. This pantry also helps feed the guest at our emergency sanctuary from the cold winters that help men, women and children find shelter during cold months. Code Purple Kent County also provides services for children in the form of tutoring, music / drama school and job training classes for the workforce. COVID-19 has impacted our organization in many ways by making it tough to keep volunteers active like we had pre-pandemic but we know that with your help we can continue our services and make Delaware better with less poverty, homelessness, addiction and suffering. Fundraising from this campaign will go to expand our space, assist with maintenance of refrigerators and freezers and add new equipment, help our kitchen become a commercially viable way for our guest to create jobs and upgrade our facilities to meet the prevention needs of COVID-19 and other viruses.
