Brain injury is not an event or an outcome. It’s the start of a misdiagnosed and under-funded neurological disease.  Brain injuries are unpredictable in their consequences and affect the way we think, act, and feel.  Each year in the United States, an more than 3 million people sustain a brain injury, resulting in 56,800 deaths, 2,529 of which are children.  An estimated 812,000 children were treated in emergency departments for concussions or traumatic brain injuries.  In Delaware, approximately 20,000 people are affected by a brain injury.   Increased public awareness and understanding of the consequences will hopefully lead to the prevention of injuries, while enhancing the recovery process for survivors.

Brain Injury Association of America, Delaware Chapter (BIAA-DE) is the only organization in the State of Delaware that provides, education, support, advocacy, and resource education to families affected by brain injury.  Please support BIAA-DE so we can continue to provide avenues for increased quality of life to many Delawareans.
