Organization Mission:
The mission of the Greater Harrington Historical Society is to keep the Greater Harrington area’s history alive for the education and enjoyment of the public.
The Greater Harrington Historical society has existed since 1977. To date, we have over 70,000 artifacts, from matchbooks to a 40 foot neon sign! One of our more recent acquisitions was a donated set of Thomas Scharf's History of Delaware. While the pages themselves are almost pristine, the outer binding and the covers need our help! With COVID-19 severely impacting any fundraising efforts, we are hoping to get back off the ground using Do More 24! Please consider a donation to our organization as we strive to continue preserving our history and crating exciting displays for the public.
About Greater Harrington Historical Society
The Greater Harrington Historical Society was founded in 1977 by a group of citizens looking to preserve the areas colorful and rich history. Growing from a shared office space to 3 museums today, our collections of artifacts has grown to over 70,000 items, each telling a story of the areas past. Artifacts range from restaurant matches books to a forty foot neon car dealership sign, property and indentured servant ephemera from the late 1600’s to documents highlighting the City of Harrington’s just completed 150th sesquicentennial celebration.
