Organization Mission:
Our mission is to eliminate the spread and stigma of HIV/AIDS, improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS, and promote community health through comprehensive and culturally-sensitive services, education programs, and advocacy.
Please support AIDS Delaware.
AIDS Delaware was founded in 1984 by concerned volunteer activists to address the state’s emerging AIDS community. Our mission is to eliminate the spread and stigma of HIV/AIDS, improve the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS, and promote community health through comprehensive and culturally sensitive services, education programs, and advocacy.
Our services include free, confidential HIV testing; case management/client services; education/ outreach programs; pharmacy services; food pantry; drug & alcohol counseling; mental health counseling; transportation program (Sussex County); and The Village Delaware, a community for LGBTQ+ youth and adults.
Since mid-March 2020, following CDC guidelines, and with consideration of our immunosuppressed, high-risk clients, we are primarily working remotely. We have adapted, using telephonic and telehealth capabilities, but not all clients can connect technologically. This makes it harder to provide life-sustaining services such as case management and counseling. Many of our clients have lost their job or have had a significant decrease in income. Many are just scared to go to work due to COVID-19 and their HIV+ status.
